Advertisements For Sam Harris' Book Banned Because They Said It Would Be Ok To Flush The Koran Down the Toilet

It's not just ok. To my mind it is preferable.

But for the record, the proposal stemmed from the time when Sam Harris debated with the ever-so-intelligent Ben Affleck on Bill Maher's TV scam, Politically Incorrect.

From the Daily Mail:
A series of billboards mocking communion biscuits and arguing it should be fine to flush to Koran down the toilet without fear of violence have been banned because they 'discriminate or vilify'.
Prominent atheist thinker Sam Harris, who famously argued with Ben Affleck about Islam on American television earlier this year, will visit Australia on a speaking tour next year. But organisers are furious APN Outdoor won't them run the advertisements which feature quotes from Mr Harris.
They argue: 'To reject these posters is to censor free speech - pure and simple'.
One advertisement said people should be able to flush all books including the Islamic holy text down the toilet without fear of violent reprisals.
So offensive, huh?

For the record, here's the offending ad:

Happy Halloween IBA!!!

Celebrate the life and career of Count Vlad Dracul (the Impaler): a man who understood Islam and knew how to deal with Islamists. May we learn to emulate his example.

PS: Are you aware that the masthead of our blog is Vlad from the movie Dracula?

I have Sam' Harris book on my shelf and it made for excellent reading. I did not agree with everything he wrote, but he is a strong apologist for rational and enlightened thought. Christians also received his ire, as do other religious demographics. I was not offended by his thoughts regarding Christianity. I actually understood some of his concerns. He plays fair and what he penned was written with a fair sense of play and a wicked sense of humor.

I believe that individuals have the right to burn, flush, or otherwise dispose of books in their personal library. It is a form of freedom of expression.

Pasto: I am aware now. Perhaps Halloween should be the annual anti-jihad celebration day.

The plague of Islam does seem pretty much the same as the gates of hell being opened upon the Earth.
